27 life lessons I learned before turning 27

Whether or not you need to, pee before getting in a car. Even if it’s only a short drive, Lagos traffic will humble you.
Happiness comes and goes, so aim for contentment. This can sometimes be achieved with a cold bowl of yogurt and granola. Or a cookie.
Choose small consistent efforts over sweeping life-changing declarations.
Be a verb not a noun. Nouns imprison. You are not a marketing person; you are a person who does marketing.
When people want to do nice things for you, let them
When your gut is screaming red flag(s) – abort. Every time.
It is the ultimate mark of intelligence to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it
If a problem has a solution it is not a problem
If a problem does not have a solution it is also not a problem, it is a fact
Your family loves you. No matter how many times they ignore your saying “it’s in the fridge does not mean you can help yourself!”
Tell the people you love how important they are to you
When you encounter narcissistic people, do not take on their trauma as your own. It is not your responsibility to fix people.
Don’t be afraid to let go of relationships that no longer serve you. No matter how long those relationships have lasted.
The human capacity to forgive is unmatched. For all your tough talk, you’ll be constantly surprised at how much space is in your heart for other people
You will meet people that are answers to prayers you didn’t even know you had
Some things in life are laughable without being funny
Laugh. At your own failures, from nervousness, because others are laughing, at the futility of it all and in the face of the statement “this is not a laughing matter!”
Work hard, and make a lot of noise about it
Save as much money as you can even when you don’t think you can. Habits stick and a culture of savings will set you up for the kind of life you desire
Invest in as many experiences as you can afford; Read as many books as you can afford; Travel as many times as you can afford.
Sad songs are best enjoyed when you’re deliriously happy
Write. Even when you have no idea what you’re writing about. You will end up with a collection of sentences with nothing but a vague linear trajectory, but it will be worth the shot
If you work at something long enough, you’ll figure it out. Remembering this will help you do more and get more out of life.
